I'll Be Right Black on Thursday, January 01, 2009 9:41:37 PM
All we hear about today is how President Elect Obama is channeling Lincoln. Picking Senator Clinton to his “team of rivals,” taking the train into Washington for the inauguration, even using Lincoln’s Inaugural Bible from the Smithsonian. What does this tell us? Nothing that at least 47% of Americans already knew. Obama is a blank slate, an emperor with no clothes, an empty shirt. Therefore, he has no original ideals, there is no greatness so he is shrouding himself in the greatness of others.
His economic plan is more of the Roosevelt New Deal. His War Plan is the “failed” Surge that President Bush applied so well. Any policy he has, has already been implemented by others and all Obama is telling us he is going to do is adopt it and accept the credit. The problem with this type of presidency is, what happens when an original problem arises? Do we have someone who can rise to the challenge or someone who will do research and find an answer from whomever?
I do believe that those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it but learning from history and simply channeling great leaders is not the same thing. We are still left with the same question, Who is Barack Obama? On January 20, 2009 we will begin to find out who is in the shirt. I hope for the United States that we indeed do have the Democratic Parties Lincoln. My speculations are we have only a mediocre president.
Being black I am one of the few who voted on the “wrong” side of history. I did this because I know who is inside my shirt. I stand for true freedom and morality. I don’t believe that anyone could ever be “punished with a baby.” This country is worth fighting for and the best government is the one that governs least not the one that governs everything. Hold on my fellow Americans, grab your wallets, open your eyes and watch what we have done. The good thing is that in four years we have the opportunity to right the ship. As my political grandfather Frederick Douglas once said, "The Republican Party is the ship and all else is the sea."
As we find out who President Barack Obama is, he may be the help we need to right our ship.
